Mexico City, with its bustling creative energy and rich cultural tapestry, became the fertile ground where Liz's ideas blossomed. Here, amid a community of like-minded individuals, she found both inspiration and challenges. The city's dynamic art scene, coupled with its abundant natural beauty, became the canvas upon which Liz's sustainable fashion vision took shape.

I'm Mexican, specifically from Veracruz, a highly tropical region filled with nature, beaches, and waters. I'm a sustainable fashion designer specializing in eco textiles and garments with sustainable properties, such as upcycling. The inspiration behind my designs comes from biomimicry, drawing inspiration from various plants and animals. These mechanisms solve human problems and inspire all of my avant-garde and sustainable fashion designs.

My interest in fashion and design started at a young age. My dad was a photographer and architect who taught me to take photos with analog cameras and showed me his architectural drawings. I have a natural talent for drawing, as I have been drawing and selling my artwork to friends at school since I was 10 or 13 years old.I have always been interested in drawing and designing. I didn't even know that fashion design was a career or something that existed in our world. So, when I found out about it, I initially wanted to be a footwear designer. Then, I ended up studying fashion design, which involves everything else.

Mexico City is an incredible place for designers. The city is brimming with creativity and talented individuals, and the design scene is vibrant. It feels like home, and this city has the largest community of people who create and influence how we perceive the world. Moreover, there are countless museums, exhibitions, art fairs, and events that never fail to inspire me.

It's great to be in a city where trends are developed, and so many people are willing to collaborate to create new things. This city influences much of my work, inspiration, and designs because it also has a lot of nature, which is my main inspiration. There's a fashion community here in Mexico, but it's small and closed off. Unfortunately, many people are unwilling to share their contacts or connections or work with anyone.

So, it's a little bit hard to get in, but someone with talent and persistence in their work can get involved in many ways. A beautiful thing that we are seeing is the creation or evolution of fashion communities that are not specifically mainstream and are against fast fashion. Overall, it is expanding, and it's up to us to communicate what real fashion is instead of just following what famous people are doing.

One of the key factors that has helped me become a successful designer is perseverance. Working for yourself and being responsible for every aspect of a fashion brand is challenging, as it involves designing and learning about how the entire business works.

That's super challenging, but I would say don't give up, keep learning, keep pushing forward. That's my main thing. Also, be super curious. Curiosity is the base of a lot of the learning that I have had. Um, that is what makes me create different designs that are relatable to people and interesting to them.

Also, another key is Don't be afraid, don't be ashamed, and don't be embarrassed to show your work, shout to everyone, and tell everyone about what you are doing and your projects. I think there are people out there who have insane projects, but they are too afraid to show them to people because they think they are worrying.

It's also super important to be your own ambassador; if you are not empowering your own brand, no one else will. No one else will if you don't believe in what you're doing. So it's super important to advocate for yourself and to try to sell your work everywhere you are because no one's going to come and fall from the sky to sell it for you.

Never stop dreaming, never stop believing in your project because there are going to be highs. There will be amazing days, horrible days, days for breakdowns, days for excitement. So it's a really hard part. But if you keep dreaming, you can keep achieving.

The industry is not easy, but connecting with our deepest dreams and challenging ourselves to pursue them is worthwhile.
